The artist Luzia Hürzeler, PhD (*1976), is a board member at SARN and founding member of the SARN Table event series. In the exhibition "In the Last Place" she examined the human knowledge generated about the lives and deaths of eight taxidermied wolves. Following an introduction by Christian Ritter of C.H., Luzia led us through the exhibition. Afterwards, we exchanged observations, thoughts and experiences on publishing and exhibiting artistic research over an apéro at the restaurant Hot Pasta.

In the exhibition "In the Last Place", Luzia Hürzeler examined the human knowledge generated about the lives and deaths of wolves. After unearthing taxidermied wolf bodies in museums and collections in Valais, Luzia Hürzeler captured the objects photographically and linked them to the data and visualizations she could collect for each animal. Based on the indices and information she gathered, the artist visited and photographed the places where the animals spent the last moments of their lives. Parallel thereto, she conversed with researchers and experts involved in the production, evaluation and archiving of this data. The video recordings of the expert interviews are shown in the exhibition alongside the large-format installation En dernier Lieu.

Luzia Hürzeler studied at the Ecole supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, at the Chelsea College of Art and Design in London and at the Slade School of Fine Art at the University College London. She obtained her doctorate at the Bern Academy of the Arts and the University of Bern in visual arts and social anthropology.
